Best for beginners: Inject & Forget bags

If you are choosing a first kit, our Inject & Forget bags are the easiest place to start. Each is a sealed, pre-sterilised substrate with a self-healing injection port and a passive-airflow filter patch built in. Nothing to mix, nothing to sterilise, and very little that can go wrong.

Worth knowing: we invented the Inject & Forget bag. MushBuddies and SporeBuddies originated it, and it was the first sealed-bag mushroom growing tek. Most similar bags on the market are a copy of a format we developed.

They come in 1lb, 2lb and 4lb, so you can start small and size up after a successful flush. Typically they produce 3-5 or more flushes, not a single harvest.

Never open Inject & Forget or all-in-one kits before injection. The contents are only sterile while the bag is closed.

Best if you want no dark cupboard: LightBags

Most kits need a dark period while they colonise, which means finding a cupboard and leaving it alone. LightBags colonise and fruit in light, so no dark period is needed at all. If you have not got a spare dark space, this is the format that solves it. Target 22-23°C.

Best for bigger yields: 50/50 kits

Our 50/50 Horse Manure and Rye Grain and 50/50 Horse Manure and BRF kits produce more than an Inject & Forget bag — but they need a real daily routine to look after. That is the honest trade-off, and we would rather say it than upsell you.

Choose these if you already know you enjoy the daily side of growing. If you want hands-off, stay with Inject & Forget.

Best reusable option: Dutch Style MycoBox XL

The MycoBox XL is a 1200ml reusable, multi-use box, sterilised and ready to use. It has six injection ports, and because they are sterilised inside the grow bag there is no need to clean them before injecting. Target 22-23°C.

Best for building your own: spawn and substrate

If you want control rather than convenience, buy the parts. Colonise grain spawn, then mix it into a bulk substrate at your chosen ratio — 1:2 is the balanced default, 1:3 is more contamination-resistant, 1:1 is fastest but riskiest.
